Sister Audrey Rushton, RSHM | September 10, 1928 – December 17, 2025
A Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary for 78 years, Sister Audrey Rushton died peacefully on December 17, 2025, at the age of 97, at Regina Residence in Orange, CA. Sr. Audrey was one of five children born to Catherine and Rowland Rushton in Los Angeles, CA. She is predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Ted and Rowland, and her sister, Sister Yvonne Rushton, who was also a member of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary. She is survived by her younger sister, Sister Renée Rushton, RSHM, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Raised in the San Fernando Valley, Sr. Audrey entered the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary in 1945 in Tarrytown, NY. She ministered as an educator and administrator in New York, Los Angeles, and North Hollywood. Sr. Audrey served for 30 years in Mexico as a beloved and respected administrator at Instituto Marymount. This experience captured her heart and she deeply cherished the people and culture of Mexico. After returning to Los Angeles, she participated in educational programs that served at-risk youth, social outreach projects and taught English and citizenship to recent immigrants.
