We cherish the gift of our internationality which marked our very beginnings. The Western American Area has been immersed and actively engaged in the life of the Institute, enabling us to reach out beyond ourselves to ever new horizons. One of seven units that encompass the RSHM global face, we have been enriched by the opportunities afforded us to participate fully in the unfolding of our international mission. We have been mutually enriched by intercultural and intergenerational dialogue, immersion, and mission experiences. Our world views and perceptions have been challenged and our personal and other boundaries stretched. These moments have been invitations “to see differences not as lines of separation, but meeting places of grace.” (GC2007
Sisters have served in varied capacities in different parts of the world. We participate in processes, are members of commissions, and have initiated programs and projects that have made significant contributions to the life of the Institute and continue to do so to this day. RSHM from the West serve as leaders at Area and Institute levels, Provincial and General Superiors and Council Members, Formators and members of formation teams. We lend our experience, skill, talent, and resources to endeavors that promote unity and support the work of the Institute and we welcome the contributions of others.
