South Central LAMP (Los Angeles, CA)
South Central LAMP provides a supportive and nurturing environment for economically disadvantaged women and their families through educational programs that promote literacy, parenting skills, self-esteem, and family stability.
Founded in 1992 in response to the Los Angeles civil unrest, LAMP emerged from a collaboration of eight congregations of women religious addressing the needs of Latina immigrant mothers seeking education and opportunity for their children.
The Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RSHM) have remained steadfast in their commitment since its founding—serving as a sponsoring congregation and actively supporting LAMP’s mission of empowering families to work effectively for their own development and liberation.
A Place Called Home (APCH) – Los Angeles, CA
A Place Called Home is a nonprofit youth center in South Central Los Angeles providing education, counseling, mentoring, and arts programs, along with recreation and athletics. Rooted in one-on-one support, APCH empowers underserved youth to discover their strengths, take ownership of their future, and make a positive impact in their communities.
The Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary have served APCH since 1997 as board members, staff, and volunteers. Founded by Debrah Constance in a church basement, APCH is now led by a dedicated and committed board.


CHIRLA – Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (Los Angeles, CA)
Founded in 1986, CHIRLA advances the human and civil rights of immigrants and refugees through advocacy, education, organizing, and coalition-building. Serving families, low-wage workers, and immigrant youth, CHIRLA works to build a more just and inclusive society in Los Angeles and beyond.
The Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, Western American Province, have supported CHIRLA since 1993 through advocacy, education, and financial commitment.
CAST – Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (Los Angeles, CA)
CAST assists survivors of human trafficking and works to end forced labor and slavery-like practices through a client-centered, human rights approach that empowers survivors to rebuild their lives.
The Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary recognize human trafficking as modern-day slavery and are committed to its eradication (GC 2007). Since 2003, the RSHM Western American Province have partnered with CAST through advocacy, legislative efforts, volunteer service, and fundraising.
