In honor of the 223rd anniversary of Fr. Jean Gailhac’s birth, RSHM Sisters joined students, faculty, and staff at The Marymount Institute  at Loyola Marymount University for a meaningful celebration of our shared Marymount heritage.

Held on November 13th at the Marymount Center, the event explored the question: Where does the “Marymount” in LMU come from? While many universities carry the Loyola name, only LMU carries the Marymount legacy shaped by the RSHM.

The program featured “The Marymount Tradition,” a student-led oral history and digital humanities project presented by Laura Haushelter and Sam Qualls (Class of 2026) under the mentorship of Dr. Mairead Sullivan, Women’s and Gender Studies.

Sister Mary Genino, RSHM, Area Leader, thanked the students for their excellent presentation and for carrying forward the mission and legacy of the RSHM.
